He says that the PSOE will begin to negotiate the amnesty after Feijóo’s investiture session

BARCELONA, 16 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The leader of En Comú Podem and negotiator of Sumar con Junts, Jaume Asens, has considered that the former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont “has shown that he is brave enough to be willing to negotiate, because, if not, he would have said referendum or referendum from the beginning”.

In an interview in the newspaper ‘VilaWeb’ collected this Saturday by Europa Press, he stated that Puigdemont “is aware of what is on the other side”, in reference to a possible agreement between PP and Vox to govern if the elections are repeated.

According to him, it would be irresponsible not to reach an agreement for an amnesty law and he has pointed out that the mediator cannot be made “an element that could end up being an impediment to negotiating.”

Regarding Puigdemont’s demand to approve the amnesty law before the investiture, he said that he does not know if it will be possible but that he hopes that “if the law is taken into consideration, if a public defense is made by the PSOE, in Congress, be enough.

He has pointed out that the PSOE plans to get “deep” with the negotiation after the leader of the PP and candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has passed the investiture process, but he has warned that it would be ideal for it to begin as soon as possible to negotiate.

Asens has indicated that a possible formula for the amnesty law would be the following: “All actions or omissions of political intention linked to the objective of achieving self-determination of Catalonia, classified as criminal or administrative infractions that took place on or after 1 December, are amnestied. January 2013 until the entry into force of the law”.

He has considered that it is important not to make a bad amnesty law because if it does not manage to “pass the filter of constitutionality, it will have been a failure.”
