This Saturday, an Atlantic frontal system is expected to affect the extreme north of the peninsula, leaving cloudy or overcast skies and precipitation in Galicia, the Cantabrian area and the Pyrenees. These will be more abundant in western Galicia, where they may be persistent, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
In the rest of the Atlantic slope, a progressive increase in cloudiness is also expected, with the probability of some weak and scattered precipitation in the northwest of the Northern Plateau, in the north of the Iberian system and east of the Central system, while in the rest of the On the Peninsula and in the Balearic Islands, intervals of medium and high clouds without precipitation will predominate, as well as in the Canary Islands, intervals of low clouds tending to be slightly cloudy or with high clouds.
This Saturday there will also be a probability of fog banks in the main mountain environments, which are not ruled out to be locally persistent, and without ruling out them in the Guadiana and Andalusia in the morning. In this context, Cuenca and Guadalajara will have active yellow warnings for fog.
Likewise, the snow level will quickly rise from 1,200/1,400 meters in the northwest mountains to 2,200 meters, without significant accumulations, according to the AEMET.
INCREASE IN TEMPERATURES
Temperatures, for their part, will drop in the case of the maximums in the west of the Balearic Islands and on the southeastern coasts and Melilla, while they will increase in the rest, more markedly in the northwest quadrant, in the Pyrenees and the Cantabrian Sea, where it will be locally notable.
The minimum temperatures will also increase in the northwest quadrant, with decreases predominating in the rest, and in the Canary Islands they will tend to rise. Likewise, frosts will be restricted to high levels of the main mountain systems of the northwest half and will be weak in general, except in the Pyrenees, where they will be moderate.
Finally, the wind will blow from the west and south in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with strong gusts from the southwest in the north of Galicia and the Cantabrian area, from the northwest in the eastern third of the peninsula, with a strong north wind in the Mediterranean and the Balearic Islands, blowing to southwest. In addition, moderate trade winds will blow in the Canary Islands.
WARNING FOR STRONG WAVES
The waves will put the Balearic Islands and the north of the Peninsula at risk (yellow) or significant risk (orange).
Specifically, Menorca, in the Balearic Islands, will be under a yellow warning for wind and an orange warning for coastal phenomena, with wind from the north of 50 to 60 km/h (force 7) and waves that may occasionally reach four meters, with waves of up to seven or eight meters.
Asturias, Cantabria, Guipúzcoa, Vizcaya, Girona and Tarragona will also be at risk from waves, but with a yellow warning, where northwest winds of 50 to 60 km/h (force 7) and waves of two to three meters are expected.
The waves will also affect A Coruña and Lugo with a yellow alert, where southwest winds of 50 to 60 km/h (force 7) and combined seas from the west or northwest of four to five meters are expected.
