MADRID, 2 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz surpassed this Wednesday his first match in the Paris-Bercy tournament, the last Masters 1,000 of the season that is played on an indoor hard court, after getting rid of the Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka by a double 6-4.

The Murcian began his career solidly in the Parisian event, the penultimate of the circuit in his brilliant season together with the ATP Finals in Turin (Italy), and where he aims to be able to defend his current status as number one in the world.

The one from El Palmar put aside any doubts about the physical condition of his left knee and although he appeared on the track with some protection in the area, he did not seem to see his mobility resented in pursuit of his 56th victory of 2022, dedicated on this occasion to his brother Álvaro on the occasion of his 23rd birthday.

Alcaraz did not sign an excessively brilliant game, but it took him just over an hour and ten minutes to end Nishioka’s resistance. Despite landing 29 winners and being very aggressive and effective at the net, he ended up with 23 unforced errors, 14 of them with one of his best weapons, the ‘drive’.

The match began with both players imposing their services and few opportunities to the rest, with only one point in the first four games. The first to refine in this situation was the Spanish, enough to achieve the first ‘break’ that seemed to be definitive.

But it wasn’t initially because the first favorite of the tournament, after wasting a break ball at 4-2, paid dearly for a bad serve and Nishioka returned the balance to the match, for a short time because the Murcian recomposed himself to break again quickly and no more concessions.

The second round also began with equality and few options for the rest, although Alcaraz was the one who most prowled the break because Nishioka could barely counter his serve. Juan Carlos Ferrero’s pupil waited for his chance and this came with 4-4, at which point he got the ‘break’ to avoid problems and close out the duel.
