BARCELONA, 13 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, announced this Wednesday the call for early elections in Catalonia for May 12, after the Parliament has rejected the Generalitat’s 2024 Budget bill.
In an institutional statement from the Palau de la Generalitat after a meeting of the extraordinary Executive Council, the president of the Generalitat explained that the Government has withdrawn the bill on fiscal and financial measures, known as the Budget Accompanying Law, after the rejection of the accounts.
The Government signed a budget pact with the PSC, but has not managed to gather enough support – it only had 66 of the 68 necessary votes – to get the accounts forward, after trying to negotiate with the Comuns, Junts and the CUP.
