He wants to return to Parliament after years “maintaining the presidency, despite 155, in exile”

The Junts MEP and former president of the Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont, said this Wednesday that “he could be” in the investiture plenary session of the Parliament after the May 12 elections, without clarifying whether he will be a candidate, and has stated that he would a lot of hope.

“I would be very excited to be in the Parliament of Catalonia after more than six years and four months maintaining the presidency, despite 155, in exile,” he responded to the press in Strasbourg (France) when asked about the announced electoral advance. this same Wednesday by the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès.

He pointed out that the Amnesty Law is expected to be approved this week and that it will come into force at the end of May after passing through the Senate.

“The (Amnesty) Law says that even if there is paralysis of the law, the precautionary measures will not be withdrawn,” so the arrest warrants against him would not be effective internationally or in Spain.

However, he has said that he has not yet had time to speak with his lawyers to consider whether he will run as a candidate.

“Everything is very premature,” and he has admitted that the decision he makes will affect his candidacy for the European Parliament, because he believes that it is not compatible with being a candidate for the Generalitat.

He added that his decision will be marked by the deadline for submitting applications, which he has assured that he does not know what it is.
