The elite mountaineer and athlete Beatriz Flamini, who has just broken the world record after spending 500 days in a cave without contact with the outside or time references, explained that she “never” thought of leaving despite the difficult times and to endure this challenge of extreme conditions resorted to what she considers “very important, coherence”: “That what you think, what you feel and what you say are united”.
An emotional, lucid and “very satisfied” Beatriz with herself has appeared before the media almost two hours after leaving, this Friday morning, the cavity on the Costa Tropical of Granada where she has spent the last year and a half of her life, at a depth of 70 meters, and she has recognized that when her team came for her, they did not expect that she would have already fulfilled the challenge, since she has not been aware of the passage of time.
“When I have seen the light I have not felt anything because it has been as if it was a while ago that I entered (…) for me it is still November 21, 2021, I do not know what has happened in the world, I do not have I have no idea”, he recounted, specifying that although he initially tried to take references to calculate the time, he could not. During this time he has suffered auditory hallucinations and some short-term memory loss, but he assures that “nothing has been written” regarding the risks of an experience as extreme as this has happened to him.
Reading, painting, knitting are some of the things in which she has worked to pass the time, although she stresses that “the force has taken her out of the here and now”, and that she has focused on the “sensations of the body”. to decide when to eat, drink or sleep.
