The Portuguese was left out of the team after leaving the bench before the end of last Wednesday’s game against Tottenham
LONDON (UK), 25 Oct. (PA Media/dpa/EP) –
Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo returned to training for the ‘Red Devils’ first team on Tuesday, after being separated from the dynamics of the squad led by Erik ten Hag for leaving the bench before the end of last night’s match Wednesday against Tottenham.
The Portuguese did not enter United’s squad for this Saturday’s duel in the Premier against Chelsea, which ended in a draw (1-1), and he did individual training with physical trainers in Carrington on Friday.
Now, Ronaldo rejoins the group dynamic and is therefore available for Sheriff Tiraspol’s visit to Old Trafford in the Europa League. Last Wednesday, the Portuguese left one of the images of the day, going to the locker room before the final whistle of his team’s victory over the ‘Spurs’, in a rudeness that United did not let go and pushed the player away.
Hours later, Cristiano published a letter on his social networks in which he regretted the incident, which he blamed on a “hothead”. “I have always played with respect towards my teammates, rivals and coaches. That has not changed, I have not changed, in 20 years of professional soccer,” he wrote.
“Right now, I just think that I have to keep working, support my teammates and be ready for everything in every game. Giving in to pressure is not an option. This is Manchester United, and we must be united,” he added.
From the PA news agency, they maintained that Erik ten Hag and the Portuguese would have been permanent since the coach made the decision to remove the international.
A day after the decision to remove the Portuguese, Ten Hag acknowledged that it was “a difficult decision.” “But I think there have to be consequences for bad behavior and it’s the second time, so you can’t let it go, because otherwise it will be miserable for the future,” he argued.
“It’s not about (showing who’s in charge). It’s about the club. I have to make decisions in the interest of the club and the team in particular. That’s my job. It doesn’t matter who you are, reputation or age.” added the coach about the situation of the Portuguese striker.
