MADRID, 17 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa has dropped four places in the WTA ranking, which continues to be led by the Polish Iga Swiatew, so she is in eighth position after falling in the quarterfinals of the San Diego tournament, category 500, and moving away from the Women’s Cup of Fort Worth (Texas).

Paula Badosa is eleventh in the ‘Race’, with 2363 points and is 243 behind Veronika Kudermetova, who makes the cut to be in the WTA Finals. Now, her great opportunity is to play the WTA 1000 in Guadalajara, which the 17 players who still have mathematical options to qualify will try to grab.

Badosa was reunited with victory in her debut at the WTA in San Diego, after beating Louisa Chirico in straight sets. A victory that left behind her the drought of her last tournaments and that gives her back the options of being in Fort Worth. However, she said goodbye to the tournament in the early hours of Friday, after falling in the quarterfinals against the American Danielle Collins.

At the moment, only Swiatek, Ons Jabeur and Jessica Pegula already have a guaranteed place, with two weeks to go until the event that culminates the season begins. Apart from Guadalajara, there are also three WTA 500 tournaments left. This is the case of Tokyo, Ostrava and San Diego, so the opportunities to earn points for the big event are shared.
