– Net5.5G application deployment achieves remarkable progress and inspires new growth for operators
PARIS, April 11, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The IP GALA Summit with the theme “Bringing Net5.5G to Reality, Inspiring New Growth” was successfully held by Huawei during the MPLS SD
Zuo Meng, president of Huawei’s Metro Router Domain data communication product line, noted that new ultra-wideband applications are continually being developed, providing new opportunities and challenges to operators. Operators need to build a Net5.5G target network to support the upgrade to 10Gbps connections for home broadband, mobile broadband, enterprise private line and enterprise campus services. Accelerating the deployment of Net5.5G applications to support operators’ greater business success has become an industry consensus.
Immersive applications, digitalization and industry cloud and artificial intelligence applications drive the continued growth of bandwidth and ultra-broadband connections globally. Tayeb Ben Meriem, co-chair of WBBA’s Network Technology Working Group, said that to address such growth, WBBA raised the Net5.5G initiative together with its members, which includes 10 Gbps campuses with Wi-Fi 7, 400GE converged IP transport, and hyperconverged data center networks by 2025-2030.
Major operators shared their live network deployment and innovative practices of key Net5.5G converged transport technologies. vivo, a leading operator in Latin America, completed SRv6 multi-vendor interoperability and successfully deployed SRv6 on the live network in Brazil. Nelson Jose dos Santos Junior, IP network expert at vivo noted that with the gradual deployment of key technologies for Net5.5G, such as SRv6, 400GE and network slicing, vivo will improve the 5G service experience and maintain its leadership position. Oscar Paniagua, Transport Network Manager at Telecom Argentina, said that 400GE has been deployed in the backbone network to support the growth in traffic for 5G and residential broadband services. The IP transport network is continuously evolving towards Net5.5G and providing an optimal connection experience through enhanced network automation, SLA guarantee, real-time visualization and flexible bandwidth capabilities. Mounira Aissa El Bey, CTO of Cloud Core and IP Backbone at Algeria Telecom, said the IP transport network aims to evolve into a next-generation network that offers ubiquitous access, smart connection, ultra-broadband backbone and segmentation as a service. Through innovative network automation and slicing practices, SLA assurance is provided for different scenarios to ensure a high-quality customer experience.
As an evolution of the Net5.5G network scenario, Pietro Cassarà, researcher at the Italian National Research Council, highlighted how key technologies such as SRv6-based network slicing and IFIT perfectly complement the AI-based digital network map to deliver SLA and automate future network scenarios, such as mesh routing in dynamic topology in future non-terrestrial networks.
Carsten Rossenhövel, CTO of EANTC, an authorized third-party testing organization in Europe, shared the progress of multi-vendor interoperability testing in 2024 and the independent invitation test report of Huawei 19.2T boards. This indicates that key Net5.5G capabilities, such as 400GE, SRv6, and slicing, are becoming more mature in terms of interoperability.
Huawei introduced the Net5.5G converged transport target network architecture and X private line solution. This architecture features ultra-wideband, network-as-a-service, high intelligence and comprehensive security. Net5.5G series solutions and products help operators develop comprehensive services and achieve new growth.
