– Supermicro Accelerates the AI ??Age and Metaverse with High-End Servers for AI Training, Deep Learning, HPC, and Generative AI, Powered by NVIDIA HGX and H100 8-GPU PCIe-Based Systems
The most comprehensive portfolio of systems, from cloud to edge, supporting NVIDIA HGX H100 systems, L40 and L4 GPUs, and OVX 3.0 systems
SAN JOSE, California, March 21, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Supermicro, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMCI), a total provider of IT solutions for AI/ML, cloud, storage and 5G/Edge, today announced that it has started to ship its new high-end GPU servers featuring the latest 8-GPU NVIDIA HGX H100 system. Supermicro servers incorporate the new NVIDIA L4 Tensor Core GPU in a wide range of servers optimized for applications from the edge to the data center.
As Charles Liang, Supermicro’s President and CEO explained, “Supermicro offers the most comprehensive portfolio of GPU systems in the industry, including servers in 8U, 6U, 5U, 4U, 2U and 1U form factors, as well as SuperBlade systems and workstations. compatible with the full range of new NVIDIA H100 GPUs.With our new NVIDIA HGX H100 Delta-Next server, customers can expect a 9x performance improvement over the previous generation for AI training applications. Our GPU servers feature with innovative airflow designs that reduce fan speeds, lower noise levels, and consume less power, resulting in lower total cost of ownership (TCO), plus we offer complete liquid cooling options at rack scale for customers who want to future-proof their data centers.
Supermicro’s new most powerful 8U GPU server is now available in volume. Optimized for AI, DL, ML, and HPC workloads, this new Supermicro 8U server is powered by the NVIDIA HGX H100 8-GPU offering the highest GPU-GPU communication using the fastest NVIDIA NVLink® 4.0 technology, interconnects NVSwitch and NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand and Spectrum-4 Ethernet networks to break the barriers of AI at scale. In addition, Supermicro offers several performance-optimized GPU server configurations, including direct-attach/single-root/dual-root CPUs to GPUs and front or rear I/O models with AC and DC power in standard rack configurations and OCP DC. The Supermicro X13 SuperBlade® enclosure supports 20 NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core PCIe GPUs or 40 NVIDIA L40 GPUs in an 8U enclosure. Additionally, up to 10 NVIDIA H100 PCIe GPUs or 20 NVIDIA L4 Tensor Core GPUs can be used in a 6U enclosure. These new systems provide the optimized acceleration ideal for running NVIDIA AI Enterprise, the software layer of the NVIDIA AI platform.
The liquid cooling of these servers is also compatible with many GPU servers. In addition, Supermicro announces a liquid-cooled AI development system (as a tower or rack configuration) containing two CPUs and four NVIDIA A100 Tensor Core GPUs, ideal for home and office environments and capable of deployment across departmental and corporate clusters. .
Supermicro systems are supported by the new NVIDIA L4 GPU, which offers a multiplied acceleration gain and power efficiency compared to previous generations. The same can be said for AI inferences, video streaming, virtual workstations, and graphical applications across the enterprise, in the cloud, and at the edge. Using the NVIDIA AI platform and full-stack approach, the L4 is optimized for inference at scale for a wide range of AI applications, including recommendations, voice-based AI avatar assistants, chatbots, visual search, and search automation. contact centers to offer the best personalized experiences. As the most efficient NVIDIA accelerator for general-purpose servers, L4 has up to 4x AI performance, higher power efficiency, and more than 3x more capacity and video streaming efficiency with AV1 encode/decode support. The L4 GPU’s versatility for inference and visualization and its small, energy-efficient, single-slot, low-profile, low-power 72W form factor make it ideal for global deployments, even in peripheral locations.
“Equipping Supermicro servers with the unparalleled power of the new NVIDIA L4 Tensor Core GPU is enabling customers to accelerate their workloads efficiently and sustainably,” said Dave Salvator, NVIDIA’s Director of Accelerated Computing Products. Optimized for Deployments For general use, the NVIDIA L4 offers a low-profile form factor with 72W power consumption, taking AI performance and efficiency to new heights.”
Supermicro’s new PCIe accelerated solutions power the creation of 3D worlds, digital twins, 3D simulation models, and the industrial metaverse. In addition to supporting previous generations of NVIDIA OVX™ systems, Supermicro offers an OVX 3.0 configuration with four NVIDIA L40 GPUs, two NVIDIA ConnectX®-7 SmartNICs, one NVIDIA BlueField®-3 DPU, and the latest NVIDIA Omniverse Enterprise™ software.
