GRENOBLE, France, April 16, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The largest player in cable transport, the French industrial group MND, has these days presented, ORIZON™, its new range of cable transport systems (gondolas and chairlifts) with in order to offer mountain players, transport operators in urban and tourist environments reliable, effective and sustainable mobility solutions Made in France.
With this innovative range of gondolas and detachable mono-cable chairlifts, the French group MND consolidates its position as a global leader and aspires to gain new market shares in a sector that is experiencing strong growth. The devices in the ORIZON™ range satisfy the most demanding configurations: Steep slopes, long distances, large vehicles, flows of important people. They are available in a wide range of configurations, from 6-seater chairlifts with or without cover. Cable cars with 10, 16 and 20 seats, with capacities of up to 8,000 people per hour in each direction and speeds of up to 7 meters per second.
MND has invested 20 million euros in the development and industrialization of its ORIZON™ range, and 10 million euros in the construction in Sainte-Hélène-du-Lac (Savoy-France), on a new 2 hectare plot, with a building dedicated to the production and assembly of these new systems. In addition, a first unit will be built on site so that customers can discover and test the products in real operation. Over the next 24 months, one hundred new employees will join the MND Group to support its development.
With more than 10 new groups of patents registered, MND once again demonstrates its ongoing commitment to providing advanced technical solutions for the service of soft mobility.
To develop and produce this new generation of cable transport, MND has mobilized in recent years a specialized technical and industrial team of more than 60 people, with the mission of creating a range responding to the following characteristics: single-cable detachable technology, reliable and high-performance, proven and proven components, high-capacity cabs with easy access and innovative design, high performance with a low carbon footprint, increased wear resistance to optimize maintenance costs and a patented Direct Drive motor directly connected to the pulley.
Special attention has been paid to optimizing the energy consumption of the facilities, especially through the recovery and use of the energy produced by the gravity transport system, the automatic eco-driving system to adapt to flows in real time, heat recovery to heat buildings and system integration for the production of renewable solar energy.
To design this new ORIZON™ ecosystem, MND has collaborated with the design studio office Stellantis. Born from the creative power of the Stellantis Group brands, this design studio is one of the world’s leading experts in creating responsible, inspiring and memorable brand experiences. This collaboration has allowed us to create a new generation mobility experience for users, fluid and comfortable at the same time, thanks to the numerous studies carried out on design, conception, ergonomics, accessibility, choice of materials and luminosity. This new ecosystem has been designed so that it integrates perfectly into natural, tourist and urban spaces, improving the transportation experience, promoting a sustainable and efficient mobility solution, and reinforcing the link between users and their environment.
Since each project is unique, a wide catalog of options has been designed to satisfy the technical and aesthetic requirements of the various operators: color and interior/exterior decoration, choice of materials, interior/exterior lighting, eco-driving system automatic exploitation , integrated recovery, on-board information system, video surveillance, etc.
MND has chosen April 16, the opening date of the international event MOUNTAIN PLANET (France), the world’s largest mountain development fair, to unveil its innovative world breakthrough at its stand: the new range of ORIZON™ detachable gondolas and chairlifts. designed for tourist and urban uses. Mountain Planet will host 23,000 professional visitors from 71 countries for 3 days.
