On May 3, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities requested a report from the Spanish Research Ethics Committee on the research activity of Juan Manuel Corchado, elected on May 7 as the new rector of the University of Salamanca, as reported to Europa Press sources from this Department.

Among the functions of the Spanish Research Ethics Committee are to issue reports, proposals and recommendations on matters related to scientific integrity, responsible research and professional ethics in scientific and technical research.

The professor of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Juan Manuel Corchado obtained 61.07 percent of the votes cast in the elections for rector of the University of Salamanca (USAL).

With a participation of 10.5 percent, with a total of 3,489 votes cast, his candidacy has obtained 2,131, 1,135 have been presented blank and 223 null votes have been added, according to the information provided by the president of the Electoral Board, Javier Melgosa.

Before this new responsibility, Juan Manuel Corchado, in addition to his time as a student, teacher and researcher, has been the architect of the Bisite group, dean of the Faculty of Sciences and vice-rector for Research and Transfer during the period of Daniel Hernández Ruipérez as rector.
