Setién longs for his first victory with Villarreal at the RCDE Stadium
MADRID, 8 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Sevilla will try to move away from the relegation positions against a Real Sociedad that defends sixth place and wants to avoid its fourth consecutive stumble (7:00 p.m.), in a fourteenth day of LaLiga Santander in which Villarreal longs for its first victory of the ‘era Setién’ against RCD Espanyol (8:00 p.m.) and in which Almería and Getafe seek to put land in between with the lower zone (7:00 p.m.).
At the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, Jorge Sampaoli’s men will have to slow down after the controversial Seville derby, where they rescued a point with one more thanks to a great goal from Nemanja Gudelj with nine minutes to go (1-1), to try to leave behind a streak of four league games without winning.
In fact, the Andalusian team has only won one of the last six matches between all competitions and has only taken two of the last 12 points at stake in the domestic tournament, which leave them seventeenth, marking the permanence with the same points as the descent (11).
The Donostiarras (23), for their part, have fallen to sixth place after losing in Valladolid (1-0) and against Real Betis (0-2) and drawing with Valencia (1-1); the defeat against Manchester United (0-1), on the other hand, did not prevent them from going first in the group in the Europa League.
The Argentinian Gonzalo Montiel, sent off at the Benito Villamarín, as well as the injured ‘Tecatito’ Corona and Marcao will not be available at the Nervionenses, who could suffer from casualties due to discomfort by ‘Papu’ Gómez and Marcos Acuña. To the absences of Martín Merquelanz, Mikel Oyarzabal, Umar Sadiq, Mohamed-Ali Cho, Ander Martín, Ander Martín, Ander Barrenetxea and Aihen Muñoz, Imanol Alguacil will add that of the suspended Aritz Elustondo.
For his part, Quique Setién will seek his first win as Villarreal coach against Espanyol after four games without success, which has sparked the first criticism from the fans. The defeat against Mallorca at home (0-2), the team’s third consecutive since the Spaniard’s debut against Hapoel Beer Sheva in the Conference League (2-2), raised cries of ‘Quique, go now’.
To try to correct it, the team from Castellón, ninth (18) to five points in Europe, will have to deal at the RCDE Stadium with the casualties of Pau Torres, who will have to complete a cycle of warnings, of Giovani Lo Celso and the more than probable of Alfonso Pedraza.
Meanwhile, Espanyol, without Leandro Cabrera, Adrià Pedrosa or Rubén Sánchez, is also eager to put an end to a series of four dates without a win and three consecutive draws, the last of them meritorious against Atlético de Madrid and with one less from the average hour (1-1). However, the need is pressing, with the danger zone one point below his 12.
Finally, at the Power Horse Stadium, Almería (13) and Getafe (14) face each other in a direct duel to avoid relegation places, from which they are separated by two and three points respectively. A victory this Wednesday would allow the winner to guarantee some peace of mind before the break for the World Cup.
The team from Almería has not found regularity in recent weeks, in which they have interspersed victories and defeats, the last of them in Gerard Piqué’s farewell at the Camp Nou (2-0). Now, Rubi will try to straighten the course at home with the only absences of Kaiky Fernandes, due to suspension, Juanjo Nieto and Iván Martos.
With only one point more than the Andalusians, Quique Sánchez Flores’ men have linked five consecutive days scoring points, although they have only added seven points between all of them. In fact, the azulón team only has one victory, the one achieved against Elche (0-1) a little over a week ago, in their last seven commitments, something that they will have to correct without the presence of the suspended Gastón Álvarez, Domingos Duarte and Portu nor the injured Fabrizio Angileri nor Mauro Arambarri.
