MADRID, 28 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Council of Ministers chaired by Pedro Sánchez has approved several appointments in the organization chart of the Presidency of the Government, which confirm the continuity of the positions closest to Sánchez in Moncloa, such as the deputy director of the Presidency’s Cabinet, Antonio Hernando. In addition, Hernando’s Chief of Staff will continue to be Pilar Sánchez Acera.
Last week the Council of Ministers already gave the green light to the appointment of Óscar López as Director of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government, a position he had held to date, and now confirms that several of Sánchez’s strong men will continue, such as Francisco Salazar, who repeats as Secretary General of Political Planning.
López, Hernando and Salazar were in these same positions in the previous stage, but they are also deputies because they were included in the lists for the general elections of July 23.
Sánchez also keeps Diego Rubio in Moncloa, who until now was the director of the National Office of Foresight and Strategy, although he achieved a promotion and became secretary general of Public Policies, European Affairs and Strategic Foresight. The aforementioned office will continue to be under the umbrella of this general secretariat, whose new director will be Sara Baliña, who until now was deputy director of this body.
Also rising in the ranks of the Presidency of the Government is Emma Aparici, who will be the new Secretary General of Foreign Affairs. Until now, she directed the department of the same name, but with the recent remodeling of the presidential apparatus, Sánchez has given it more weight and elevated it to the category of general secretary.
A similar situation occurs with Manuel de la Rocha, who continues to direct the economic wing of Moncloa but now with the rank of Secretary of State in the new Office of Economic Affairs and G20.
This Tuesday the Government has also appointed Antonio Hernández Espinal director of the Political Planning Department of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government, who was general secretary of the same area since June 2023.
The appointment of Jesús Perea as director of the Department of Speech and Message of the Presidential Cabinet has also been approved, an area he has occupied since July 2022, although until now he had a lower rank of unit.
Finally, the Council of Ministers has approved the appointment of Pilar Sánchez Bella as director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government, who has served as deputy director of the area since 2021.
