LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA, 20 Apr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Spain, Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Malta, countries that make up the group called MED5, have called on the European Union for greater cooperation with the countries of origin and transit of migrants.
This was said this Saturday by the Minister of the Interior of Spain, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, during a press conference with his Italian counterparts, Matteo Piantedosi; and Malta, Byron Camilleri; the Minister of Migration and Asylum of Greece, Dimitris Kairidis; and the director of the Cyprus Asylum Service, Andreas Georgiades, after holding a meeting in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The meeting served to address and share immigration policies and the fight against mafias that traffic in people, consisting of two work sessions: the Application of the Pact on Migration and Asylum; and the external dimension of migration and its financing.
