AER, Spanish Association of Robotics and Automation, presented yesterday to the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, its Robot Start SME program, a project that aims to facilitate the introduction of robotics and automation in general in small and medium-sized businesses. The meeting, in which the general director of Industrial and SME Strategy, Jordi García Brustenga, was also present, took place within the framework of the Advanced Factories event – a show of which AER Automation holds the presidency – held successfully at the Fira de Barcelona throughout the entire week.

The meeting was attended by a large representation of AER associates, led on this occasion by the CEO of Yaskawa Ibérica, Laurent Bodin. He was accompanied by Albert Planas, CEO of Next Business Exhibitions; Mar Masulli, CEO and co-founder of Bitmetrics; Luis Díez, CEO of Elmeq; Joan Guasch, director of International Development and I D i Policies at Eurecat, and Alex Salvador, manager of AER.

The Robot Start SME program is a project born from the AER Automation work groups that takes as its starting point the need for Spanish SMEs to adapt to the demands of an increasingly competitive market with new technological requirements. The objective is to channel European aid so that it can really reach small and medium-sized companies in the form of automation and reindustrialization solutions. For many of them, it will be the first purchase of a robot and, therefore, access to a new window of opportunities.

The Robot Start SME program has already been presented to the Ministry of Industry for information and is continuing to obtain the necessary approval. This new meeting, now with the Minister, represents another step on the path towards final processing. Countries around us, such as France, have already implemented it successfully in recent years.
