Madrid, February 27, 2024. The Spanish Retina and Vitreous Society (SERV) will hold the next edition of its annual congress at the Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel. More than 1,000 specialists from around the world will meet on March 8 and 9 to present the latest technological advances and developments in the diagnosis and treatment of vitreoretinal diseases.
The president of the SERV, Professor Alfredo García Layana, and the vice president of the SERV, Dr. Luis Arias, will be available to attend to the media on the first day of the meeting (Friday, March 8) from 8:30 to 10: 00 hours in the meeting room of the Congress space at the Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel.
As in previous editions, renowned experts worldwide have been invited to participate in the meeting with the aim of contributing their experience and knowledge. Likewise, this year the SERV will present its 2024 Medal of Honor to the American ophthalmologist Johanna M. Seddon, an international leading doctor in the prevention of AMD.
Another important event will take place on Saturday afternoon with the VIII SERV <40 Meeting, a meeting point in which ophthalmologists under 40 years of age participate, but which professionals of all ages can attend. In addition, the second edition of the Surgical Video Contest will also be held, also aimed at ophthalmologists under 40 years of age.
The application of artificial intelligence, new pharmacological treatments for macular diseases or the challenges in retinal surgery are some of the topics that will be addressed during the congress.
