MADRID, 2 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The abundant rainfall that began to occur this Saturday in Spain will continue this Sunday in a large part of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands in the form of storms, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), which has issued a new special warning for the Showers and thunderstorms expected through Monday.

The AEMET indicates that during Sunday it is likely that the DANA will be centered in the southeast of the Peninsula and that a humid and intense easterly flow will be established, providing moisture of maritime origin and favoring abundant rainfall.

In this sense, there is an orange warning for storms on the islands of Ibiza and Formentera and the autonomous city of Melilla, as well as in the provinces of Tarragona, Alicante, Valencia, Murcia, Madrid and Toledo.

The storm alert is moderated to yellow in the provinces of Almería, Cádiz, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga, Ávila, Burgos, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid, Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Castellón and Barcelona.

Likewise, the provinces of Teruel, Zaragoza and Álava are at risk due to winds, as well as those of the entire peninsular center, a situation that will also affect most of Catalonia, the entire Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands, which also add as a warning to the possible coastal phenomena.

The special notice from Aemet has indicated that, throughout the weekend, due to the cloudiness and expected rainfall, an autumnal atmosphere will predominate, with temperatures below what is usual for these dates in a good part of the Peninsula.

As of Monday, however, uncertainty increases but the most likely, according to the agency, is that the storm moves away to the west in the Atlantic, decreasing rainfall in the eastern peninsula and the Balearic Islands, but it is likely that the unstable environment will continue with showers and storms in the western half and central area.

Facing the forecast for this Sunday, the Aemet expects that, as a general trend, the rainfall will move throughout the day from southeast to northwest, with a probability of reaching strong and/or locally persistent in the southeastern third and center of the peninsula. , as well as other areas of the Levant, without ruling out the Northern plateau and nearby areas either. In addition, they could be accompanied by hail.

Haze has not been ruled out in the eastern half of the peninsula, Melilla and the Balearic Islands, so the rainfall could be accompanied by mud, while in the Canary Islands cloudy intervals are forecast with probable light rains in the north of the islands, which will tend to move in a of occasional showers inside those of greater relief.

With probable morning fog banks in peninsular mountain areas, the meteorological agency expects minimum temperatures to decrease in areas of eastern Andalusia, Melilla and the Canary Islands, to rise in the extreme northwest and the Balearic Islands, and without major changes in the rest, while the maximums will increase in the Levant and in the northern and northeastern thirds of the peninsula, even notably in the extreme north interior.

An intense wind from the east and northeast is expected in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, reaching strong in the Levant and coasts of the peninsular northwest, and with very strong gusts in the Balearic Islands and in large areas of the northeast half of the peninsula, especially in the interior third of the peninsula. this.

The exception will be the southwest quadrant, where the south component will generally be weak, and the Canary Islands, where the north component winds will be weak.
