The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has committed to the real estate sector, in the meeting held this Thursday in Moncloa, to maintain public investment in housing, and has stated that he is working so that Spain continues to have funds beyond 2026. ‘Next Generation’ to continue providing the country with public housing and promoting rehabilitation.

This was stated by the Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, Isabel Rodríguez, in a press conference after the meeting held this Thursday with construction employers, the banking sector, as well as the UGT and CCOO unions.

During it, the head of Housing assured that the operators present there have urged the Government to maintain investment in housing, to which Sánchez has responded by maintaining the Executive’s commitment to do so.

Rodríguez has also stated that the President of the Government, who was a “pioneer” in the request for ‘Next Generation’ funds, “is already working so that, beyond 2026”, they can continue to be available.

Similarly, the Minister of Housing has indicated that at this Thursday’s meeting it was decided to increase the frequency of meetings between the sector and the Government, so a semi-annual meeting will be held compared to the only meeting that was being held until the moment, beyond the forums in the parliamentary sphere or the advisory councils of a more technical and expert nature.

“We are going to hold meetings of this forum every six months,” he said, while conveying President Sánchez’s commitment to attending at least one of these annual meetings.

During the press conference, Rodríguez indicated that order ECO/805/2003, of March 27, on rules for the valuation of real estate and certain rights for certain financial purposes, will be modified to facilitate access to financing for communities. autonomous, a change that would complement the modification of the Land Law that is in parliamentary process.

“This complements the direction of that idea in the sense that there are already city councils and communities that are working on the agility of their urban licensing processes. There are licenses that are called abbreviated, basic, simple and that are licenses that are already in the ‘slang’ and in the urban planning practice in our country, but that due to the ECO standard, these formulas were not incorporated and (…) it was causing them, above all, a problem when accessing financing’, has detailed.

Therefore, Rodríguez has defended that this modification of the ECO standard will facilitate “financing” to municipalities for the construction of housing. “The clarification of this ECO regulation was needed to see if these new means [Land Law] that are already in the town councils and in the autonomous communities for the sake of agility, could obtain financing,” he stressed.

Likewise, they have indicated that they will take advantage of the public hearing process to which this standard will be subjected starting this Thursday to incorporate in the processing of this type of licenses new construction techniques and sustainability factors that were not incorporated in the standard because it was 2003 and “there were few people who thought in terms of sustainability.

“I consider that it has been a very good meeting to update our commitments with the sector, to see what we have accomplished, to know that we are not going to stop, to be aware of the seriousness of the problem and to have our hand extended to all administrations and the private sector,” he stressed.
