MADRID, 7 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Government plans to put measures on “democratic regeneration” on the table but does not plan to do so until after the European elections on June 9, according to sources from Moncloa, who insist that this is an important debate that must be faced. in a serene way.

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, opened this debate after five days of reflection in which he considered whether or not to continue leading the Executive after suffering a campaign of harassment and demolition against him and his family environment, as he denounced.

When he announced that he was continuing, he called for democratic regeneration and complained about the “pseudo media” – as he described them – that spread hoaxes that later served as the basis for complaints such as the one affecting his wife Begoña Gómez.

For now, the Executive has not specified what initiatives it intends to promote and has made an effort to point out that it is a “great national cause” that does not only affect the Government but also the political parties, Parliament and the media themselves and therefore so much everyone must contribute. But in any case, he has assured that he will make his contribution and now in Moncloa they indicate that it will be after the Europeans.

In recent days, Sánchez has been pointing out that more transparency would be desirable regarding who owns the media and also from which administrations they receive institutional advertising.

He has also pointed to the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) as part of this democratic regeneration and has shown himself willing to seek solutions if the PP’s refusal and the blockade of the body that has lasted for more than five years persist.

The Moncloa sources consulted point out that the European Law on Freedom of the Media – which this Tuesday came into force after passing the agreements in the European Chamber and the European Council and must now be transposed into national legislation – is a good mirror in which to look at yourself and a good framework to apply these measures.

The Government spokesperson and Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría, spoke along the same lines this Tuesday at the press conference after the Council of Ministers, in which she indicated that it is a complex debate and in the middle and long term and not “short dribble”.

Therefore, he considers that the conversation about democratic regeneration requires “temperance, seriousness and therefore they intend to involve the rest of the political parties, unions and other institutions. However, he reiterates that the Government will transfer its measures and approaches” in a timely manner. “.
