The PP has estimated that nearly one million people attended its protest at Madrid’s Puerta del Sol against the amnesty and the investiture of the acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

The attendees, among them many families, have cried out against Sánchez, to whom they have dedicated chants of “to prison”, as has happened with the former president of the Generalitat and Junts MEP, Carles Puigdemont. “Sánchez and Puigdemont to prison,” they shouted.

The attendees, which the Government Delegation in Madrid has estimated at 80,000, have carried signs that read ‘Spanish outcry, Sánchez resigns’, ‘Spain on its feet’, ‘Spain is sold’, ‘No amnesty’ or ‘ Democracy in Spain is at risk.’

This has been the central demonstration of all those called by the PP in the 52 provincial capitals of Spain. In all the meetings, the formation has read a manifesto in which it has asked “not to kneel” before the independence movement and to “fight the battle” in a “peaceful, civic and legitimate” way.
