MADRID, 12 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesman for the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, has shown his “deep concern” after those around the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny denounced this Monday that they have been unaware of his whereabouts for six days and that His lawyers have been unable to locate him in prison after failing to appear at a court hearing scheduled for this Monday.
“We are deeply concerned by these reports that (Navalni) has been missing for supposedly a week, and that neither his representatives nor his family know where he is. He should be released immediately. He should never have been imprisoned in the first place,” he said. Kirby.
In addition, he assured during a press conference that they will coordinate their work with the United States Embassy in Moscow to collect more information in this regard.
Navalny usually appears electronically in the various judicial fronts that he has open and this Monday he was scheduled to participate in a hearing in which his complaints about his treatment in prison will be examined. However, he has not participated either, which has aggravated the fear of those around him.
According to his spokesperson, Kira Yarmish, prison staff have cited technical problems to justify the latest failure to appear, but have once again expressed their fear that Navalny’s health has worsened.
