The 15 injured, including a police officer, have been discharged

Three people, including a minor, have died and another 15 have been injured in a house fire in a building on Avenida Marineros in the Alicante town of La Vila Joiosa.

As reported by the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU) and the ‘112 Comunitat Valenciana’, the fire originated around 2:15 this morning in a house on the eleventh floor of a block in Vila Joiosa and was declared dead. extinguished at 7:34 a.m.

Specifically, the fire originated at number 1 of Avenida Marineros, in a high-rise building with 24 floors, in tower 3, the firefighters have specified.

As a result, around 100 people were evacuated, while others were confined to their homes. The smoke and flames affected common spaces such as the landing.

In addition, three people died, one of them a minor, and another 15 were injured from smoke inhalation. Of them, seven are women, between 24 and 67 years old; and eight men, between 13 and 57 years old.

One of the men treated is a police officer who was discharged ‘on the spot’. The remaining 14 people were transferred to the Marina Baixa Hospital in La Vila Joiosa between the two conventional ambulances and were subsequently discharged.

A SAMU unit, an SVB unit and two conventional ambulances were mobilized to the fire area. In addition, a Headquarters Command Unit (UMJ) of firefighters attended; three Heavy Urban Pumps (BUP); an autoladder (AEA); a sergeant; two ropes; and 15 firefighters from the Benidorm and San Vicente parks.
