The University of Alicante (UA) and the Alicante Science Park Foundation of the Valencian Community (FPCA) have called the 13th edition of the Impulso Awards, which have a financial award of more than 30,000 euros, and which recognize the best business initiatives innovative within the university community.

The awards are part of ‘ua:emprende’, the program that promotes entrepreneurship in the academic institution and whose main objective is “to encourage the creation of innovative companies that arise in the university environment.” The registration period is now open and will end on May 21.

The Impulso Awards are divided into different categories. Firstly, modality A, aimed at UA research staff, doctors and doctoral students, with a business project based on UA ??research results. And modality B, to which students and graduates with a business project may apply.

The Impulso UA Award, in its A category, has up to 12,000 euros for a maximum of two projects and two prizes of 2,000 euros for the winners of the B category.

In the case of the FPCA Impulso Award, two prizes of 3,000 euros in modality A and two of 2,000 euros in modality B will be distributed to the projects that have been awarded the Impulso UA award.

The bonuses will be granted to the company once it is established and linked to the Alicante Science Park.

This award includes other types of rewards, such as two positions for each of the winning projects in both modalities in a collaborative work space. Along with this, the ‘Germán Bernácer Chair’ of the UA will also offer them mentoring and tutoring services.

On the other hand, initiatives presented in any modality can also be eligible for other awards, awarded by the vice-rectorates.

Firstly, for example, the project that is most innovative thanks to the use of digital technologies will receive the prize awarded by the Vice-Rector’s Office for Digital Transformation, with an amount of 1,500 euros.

Secondly, a project that contemplates accessibility in terms of products, services, people or entities will also be eligible for the Vice-Rector’s Office for Students and Employability award, which consists of 1,500 euros.

And third and last, the work that is likely to generate the greatest positive social impact will receive the prize of 1,500 euros awarded by the Chair of Social Responsibility of the Generalitat Valenciana.

Regarding the recognitions granted by collaborating entities, the ‘Association of Businesswomen, Professionals and Managers of the Province of Alicante’ (AEPA) will award the Women’s Entrepreneurship Award, with 1,000 euros for the best business project promoted by women.

In the case of the Association of Young Entrepreneurs of the Province of Alicante (JOVEMPA), a prize will be awarded that will allow the winning proposal to enjoy advice for starting the company.

Likewise, the group of investors ELRIM Partners will reward the project valued with the greatest business potential with mentoring and a possible financial investment.

The UA offers participants who request it the possibility of receiving tutoring to mature their ideas and prepare their participation in the ‘Impulso’. The awarding of the awards will be made public at a gala that will take place in the month of June.
