The current leader of the Republican minority in the House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, has been optimistic about the results of the US mid-term legislative elections in the face of a possible victory for his party in the Lower House.
McCarthy, who aspires to preside over the body in the event that the Republican Party reverses the Democratic majority, as the polls predict, has been observing the results at the headquarters of the National Republican Congressional Committee in Washington DC, as reported by his advisers to the CNN television network.
Aides have indicated that McCarthy has been checking the data “from the ground” while contacting the candidates who have won.
In this sense, the leader of the Republicans in the Lower House ensures that these trends point to a Republican takeover of the body.
