MADRID, 9 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Kremlin spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, has made a surprise visit to the Lugansk region, in eastern Ukraine and occupied by Russian forces, Sergei Kiriyenko, a senior official in the Russian Presidency, confirmed on Wednesday.

“Thanks to Dimitri Sergeyevich (Peskov), who returned last night from Lugansk, where he participated in a training program for representatives of the media and the press of the Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics,” he said, according to the Russian news agency. TASS news.

Peskov himself has indicated this Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a visit to Donbas, although he has specified that “for now there are no specific plans” for it. “I have no doubt that the time will come when Putin will go to Donbas, of course. They are Russian regions and he will be there,” he added.

Russia annexed the Ukrainian regions of Lugansk, Donetsk, Zaporiyia and Jershon — partially occupied by Russian troops — in September in a measure rejected by the international community. Moscow claimed on Tuesday that Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had visited the conflict zone, without giving further details.
