MADRID, 1 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The authorities of Russia and Ukraine have confirmed this Thursday a new exchange of prisoners by virtue of which fifty detainees from each side will return to their respective national territory.

The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed the news and added that the prisoners, “in danger of death” in Ukrainian captivity, will return to Russian territory, where they will receive medical and psychological assistance, TASS reports.

For his part, the head of the Office of the Presidency, Andrei Yermak, has detailed that the majority of the detained Ukrainians participated in the conflicts in Mariupol, Olenivka and in the Donetsk, Lugansk and Zaporizhia regions.

“This is a great job that continues every day. We will work until the last Ukrainian is released (…) Everyone will return to their homes,” the Ukrainian representative remarked, according to the UNIAN news agency.

The last exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia took place last weekend, although on that occasion just over 20 were released by both sides. Since the outbreak of the war in February, several exchanges have taken place, although peace negotiations are at a standstill.
