MADRID, 20 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Basques are called this Sunday to elect their representatives in the regional parliament for the next four years in an election day in which the PNV aspires to revalidate its historical leadership and EH Bildu to snatch it away.
Since 1980, the PNV has been the winner in all regional elections in terms of votes. The only exception to this leadership in the regional elections occurred in 1986, when it was surpassed by the Socialist Party of Euskadi in seats, although not in votes.
These results have allowed the PNV to govern in the Basque Country at all stages, except for the period between 2009 and 2012, in which an agreement between PSE and PP allowed the socialist Patxi López to be named lehendakari.
The situation at the municipal level, however, is very different with regions that have historically voted for other parties year after year.
In this search engine you can see, municipality by municipality, how each city and town in the Basque Country has voted in the regional elections.
