Athletic Club pulls hard to overcome Osasuna (1-2) and access the ‘Final 4’
MADRID, 9 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Real Madrid secured their place in the semifinals of the Queen’s Cup after extra time after a hard-fought win (1-2) against Villarreal at the José Manuel Llaneza Sports City that allowed them to repeat ‘Final 4’, while Athletic Club defeated (2-1) Osasuna, from the women’s second division, on their visit to Tajonar.
The team led by Alberto Toril, who took the lead in the first half with Esther González’s goal, saw Ivana score on her own goal on minute 77 to the delight of the locals. Already in extra time, the white team brought out his quality to finish deciding the tie with a great goal from Caicedo, who opened his scoring account with the white shirt after signing him last week.
For its part, Athletic Club had a punch to win the tie against Osasuna. The Basque team took the lead on the scoreboard with goals from Fuente, in the first half, and from Peke, in the second, and although the rojillo team closed the gap through Sobron after the hour of play, the defensive solidity of the visitors and the post, with which the rivals crashed up to four times, ended up deciding the tie in favor of ‘Las Leonas’.
