Gaza authorities confirm the suspension of operations in fourteen hospitals due to lack of fuel
The death toll due to the bombings carried out by the Israeli Army against the Gaza Strip following the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has increased to almost 3,800, as indicated this Thursday the Gazan authorities.
The Ministry of Health of the enclave, controlled by Hamas, has specified in a message on its account on the social network Facebook that 3,785 people – including 1,524 children – have died and some 12,500 have been injured – including nearly 4,000 minors. — due to Israeli attacks in response to the Hamas offensive, which left nearly 1,400 dead and more than 200 kidnapped.
“The Israeli occupation continues to commit more massacres, exterminating Palestinian families and destroying residential neighborhoods and infrastructure,” he said, before accusing Israel of “undermining the efforts of medical teams to evacuate those injured due to concentrated attacks and the cutting of the roads that lead to the hospitals”.
In this sense, he detailed that “Israeli violations against the health system have caused the death of 44 health workers, as well as 77 others injured” and added that “the Israeli occupation has deliberately attacked 23 ambulances.”
Likewise, the ministry has confirmed that it has suspended work in fourteen health centers located in the north of the Strip due to the lack of electricity and the consumption of all fuel reserves, while another four have been out of service due to ” direct attacks”.
“Hospitals in the Gaza Strip face a high bed occupancy that exceeds 150 percent, so patients are sleeping on the floor and in the corridors of the departments,” he maintained, while warning that “there are no supplies of medicine or fuel left in the hospitals.”
For this reason, he has stressed that “any delay in the delivery of medical supplies to Gaza hospitals will cause the death of more wounded and sick” and has called on the international community to “accelerate the delivery of emergency medical supplies to hospitals.” of the Strip”.
“We renew our call to all relevant parties to protect medical equipment, hospitals, ambulances and places of refuge for citizens who were forced to leave their homes due to the attack,” he concluded.
Shortly before, the Ministry of Health under the Palestinian Authority had indicated on its Telegram account that another 69 Palestinians have died and 1,300 have been injured in clashes with Israeli security forces in the West Bank.
The spokesman for the Gaza Ministry of Health, Ashraf al Qidra, denounced on Wednesday that “the successive massacres by the Israeli occupation constitute ethnic cleansing” in the Gaza Strip, as reported by the Palestinian newspaper ‘Filastin’, linked to Hamas. .
Likewise, he stressed that the attacks by the Israeli Army against medical facilities in the enclave – controlled by the Islamist group -, including the “indescribable massacre” at the Al Ahli hospital, which left more than 470 dead, represent “a serious threat to the health system”.
Hamas and the Palestinian Authority have accused Israel of bombing the hospital, which held thousands of patients, relatives and refugees, while Israel has said the center was hit by a projectile fired by Islamic Jihad. For their part, the countries of the region have been unanimous in their condemnation of Israel for its role in what happened.
The United Nations and various NGOs have warned of the deepening of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza due to the “total siege” imposed by Israel, which on Wednesday stated that it will allow humanitarian aid to enter the Strip from Egypt.
However, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that he will break his commitment if these assets end up in the hands of Hamas. Egypt confirmed hours later an agreement to open the Rafah crossing to send humanitarian aid to the Palestinian enclave.
