MADRID, 9 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Governor of the State of Florida, Ron DeSantis, and Senator Marco Rubio, both from the Republican Party, have managed to overcome their Democratic rivals and have managed to be re-elected in the mid-term legislative elections in the United States.

DeSantis and Rubio have managed to stay in office, as governor and senator, respectively, after fulfilling the forecasts of the polls that indicated them as favorites against Democratic candidates Charlie Crist and senator candidate Val Demings.

The 44-year-old current governor, who has promised to eliminate permits to carry firearms and continue to “expand pro-life protections”, is considered a possible presidential candidate for 2024, becoming a rival of former president Donald Trump, who has already mocked of him at campaign events.

Democrat Crist struggled to win support after Hurricane Ian struck in September, paralyzing meetings, postponing a rally and the campaign’s only scheduled debate. Biden also congratulated DeSantis for managing the storm during a joint appearance, according to the CNN television network.

DeSantis’ victory over former Rep. Crist confirms the Republican leanings of the East Coast state, as it has scored a swift victory on Election Night, versus on Election Day four years ago, when the victory between the two rivals was narrow, differing only by less than half a percentage point.
