The Minister of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030, Pablo Bustinduy, announced this Wednesday that he will pay parental care leave and that he will extend paternity and maternity leave from 16 to 20 weeks.

“We are going to move forward in the coming months to make the remuneration of the eight-week well-being care leave for each dependent child a reality,” he assured at the inauguration ceremony of the senior officials of the Ministry of Rights. Social, Consumption and Agenda 2030, where it has also indicated that it will extend paternity and maternity leave from 16 to 20 weeks.

Likewise, he has indicated that he will “promptly” launch the approval of the Family Law. “With this measure we will begin to pay off a historic debt of our country that has to do with underfinancing,” he stated.

At the event, the Secretary of State for Social Rights, Rosa Martínez, took office; the General Secretary of Consumption and Gaming, Bibiana Medialdea; the undersecretary of DDSS, Consumption and Agenda 2030, Rubén Baz; the general director of Agenda 2030, Paula Fernández-Wulff; the general director of Consumer Affairs, Daniel Arribas; and the director of the Cabinet Ministry of DDSS, Consumption and A2030, Ricardo Molero.
