QINGDAO, China, Dec. 20, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Hisense, the global home appliance and consumer electronics corporation, received product carbon footprint certification for the new Hisense 5S Series washer-dryer in accordance with ISO standard 14067. The company has also been recognized with a corporate carbon footprint opinion for its Hisense Washing Machine Company division in accordance with the ISO 14064-1 standard by TÜV Rheinland, a leading global technical services provider.
To comply with ISO 14067, TÜV Rheinland worked with Hisense to develop a product carbon footprint (PCF) accounting limit for the 5S series washer-dryer that covered raw material procurement and pretreatment, product manufacturing, distribution, use and recycling stages of waste. Carbon footprint data from the production and manufacturing stages was achieved by collecting, classifying and verifying early stage data from suppliers and the company itself through the application of data modeling techniques. Life cycle carbon footprint statistics for the application stage for several target exporting countries were acquired using product energy consumption testing standards, including EU standards No 2019/2023, EN 60456:2006 A11:2020 and EN IEC 62512:2020 A11:2020.
The PCF result recognizes the outstanding energy saving capacity of the 5S Series washer-dryer, helping to reduce electricity bills and achieving environmental sustainability in energy efficiency certified in the European Standard Class A. With the mission of “Smart Washing , easy life”, the 5S Series washer-dryer aims to delight customers through technical innovation, hygiene standards and ease of use, thus enabling an “ease of life”. Hisense continuously strives to apply a sustainable scheme in multiple aspects of the product, including low-carbon product packaging design and the replacement of environmentally friendly recycled materials and low-carbon materials.
TÜV Rheinland has also verified Hisense Washing Machine Company’s corporate carbon footprint in accordance with ISO 14064-1. Conducted a cross-validation process through declarations, invoices and other material reviews and determined the sufficiency, authenticity and reliability of the data, including site visits, inspections of internal inventory data reports and careful scrutiny of all the sources of emissions.
Hisense Washing Machine Company completed a complete carbon footprint inventory of all its departments and products by October 2023. The company strategically planned four paths to carbon reduction, covering management, operations, supply chain and organic products. By bringing innovative and sustainable technologies to life, Hisense aims to offer customers high-quality, energy-saving products that help make the world a greener place.
