The Andalusian begins the Spanish path with victory in the tie-break of the third set against the Kazakh Putintseva
MADRID, 9 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish tennis player Nuria Párrizas won (6-4, 2-6, 7-6(5)) the Kazakh Yulia Putintseva at the start this Wednesday of the first round of Group C of the Billie Jean King Cup that is played in Glasgow (Scotland), a series that Paula Badosa will seek to sentence next against Elena Rybakina.
Párrizas achieved the second victory of his record in the tournament and made it 1-0 for Spain in a very tight duel. The first set was clear for the Andalusian but in the second the script was completely changed, with a much more effective Putintseva. Everything was even, the Spanish forgave but continued in the fight until the sixth match point with which he directed the Spanish goal.
The woman from Granada, with few victories in the second half of the season, entered aggressively and forcefully with her forehand to put the first set on track (4-0). The Kazakh recovered one of the ‘breaks’ but she continued to deny the situation, throwing her racket and showing anger at her rival’s recital (6-4).
Putintseva knew how to get his game out of the pique, while Párrizas extended the slump that he already brought from the last games of the previous set. The second act was for the Kazakh, varying the height of her blows and shooting dropshots to avoid the right of the Spanish, who made many more unforced errors. Párrizas’s balls crashed into the net without being able to avoid a resounding 2-6.
By the third act both already had clear ideas, but the tension played its part. Párrizas missed a ball in the net to start ahead, the error weighed heavily and the Kazakh did take advantage of her chance to break (0-2). However, the reaction this time was from the Spanish, capable of signing four games in a row until 4-2.
With little atmosphere on Court 1 of the Emirates Arena in the Scottish city, the match heated up on its own, with Putintseva saving two break balls and then two match balls. Closing made it impossible for Párrizas, but with authority he forced sudden death. There, the Granada woman went until the sixth match point, with which she made it 1-0 and, to Spain, one victory away from winning the series.
Badosa will make her senior debut next against Rybakina, this year’s Wimbledon champion, and a victory would mean the first step towards the semi-finals of the tournament, although this Thursday the host United Kingdom awaits, who lost their debut on Tuesday against Kazakhstan, in a group where anything can happen.
