MADRID, 9 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The contest between the Democratic senator from Georgia, Raphael Warnock, and his Republican rival, Herschel Walker, will face each other on December 6 in a second round of the elections held this Tuesday, according to projections by NBC News and CNN.
Warnock seems to be slightly ahead of Walker, although neither could already achieve the 50 percent necessary to avoid a second round, according to data from these two television networks.
The campaign for the race for the seat of the Senate for the State of Georgia is peppered with controversy due to the existing accusations against the Republican candidate, the anti-abortionist Walker, who pressured a woman to interrupt her pregnancy, which led the opposition to accuse the legislator of “hypocrite”.
Georgia established itself as one of the most competitive states in the 2020 presidential election. Warnock also did not reach 50 percent in the first round in 2020, so he had to face off again in a special election day two months after the ‘ midterm’.
Now it stands as one of the unknowns that will not be revealed after the ‘midterm’ vote in a seat whose tilt could mean that one or the other party will ultimately control the US Senate.
