The Federal List Commission was going to be held this Friday but will finally take place next week

The PSOE has postponed to next Tuesday the Federal Commission of Lists, the body that must approve the candidacy for the European elections that was to be held this Friday, but maintains the Federal Committee that takes place this Saturday, April 27, which will ratify third vice president Teresa Ribera as a candidate for the European elections.

Therefore, the Federal Committee, the highest body of the party between congresses, will fundamentally dedicate itself to analyzing the current situation marked by the decision of the President of the Government and Secretary General of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, to take a few days away from public life to decide whether whether or not he continues to lead the Executive.

However, according to party leadership sources, Ribera will leave Saturday’s committee as number one on the list for the European elections on June 9 and is also scheduled to speak before her party colleagues. The rest of the members and their order will be defined at Tuesday’s meeting.

Sánchez will not attend this meeting, in which it is expected that the socialist leaders will convey their support to him to try to convince him to continue in La Moncloa. The Committee will also coincide with a demonstration that the PSOE is promoting at the doors of its national headquarters on Ferraz Street to show the support of the bases for the general secretary.

The Federal Committee will also decide whether to delegate the ratification of the European candidates’ candidacy to the Federal List Commission. In principle, it was called to ratify this list and launch Ribera into the electoral race, but Sánchez’s surprise announcement has forced the party to change its plans.

In any case, the committee can delegate this final ratification to the Federal List Commission so that it is definitively approved on the same Tuesday.

This list commission has been postponed until the day after Sánchez, after five days of reflection, communicates to the public his decision and whether or not he continues to lead the Executive, as he announced he would do in the letter he addressed to the citizenship.
