MADRID, 20 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Kremlin has no information in relation to the alleged murder in Spain of a Russian pilot who defected to Ukraine last summer and whom a senior Russian Intelligence official has not hesitated to brand as a “traitor.”
“We do not have any information on this matter,” Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov said when asked about the case of Maxim Kuzminov, according to the Interfax agency. Nor has the Russian Embassy in Madrid wanted to comment on the matter.
The Civil Guard is investigating whether the 33-year-old man who appeared dead with several gunshot wounds in a garage in the Alicante town of Villajoyosa on February 13 is Kuzminov, a Russian pilot who defected to Ukraine last August with a helicopter and Intelligence information.
In this sense, the director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergei Narishkin, has pointed out that Kuzminov was nothing more than a “traitor and criminal” who “became a moral corpse the moment he planned his crime.” dirty and terrible,” according to the Russian media ‘Pravda’.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksei Danilov, has indicated that after Kuzminov defected, he was offered to stay on Ukrainian territory. This Monday, the Ukrainian Intelligence services had confirmed the death of the pilot, who deserted in an orchestral operation from kyiv.
“He would be protected here,” Danilov said in statements reported by local media, while opting to wait for the circumstances of his murder to be clarified before making a statement on the matter.
