MADRID, 13 Mar. (CulturaOcio) –

The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles has hosted the Oscar Awards ceremony for another year. In addition to recognizing the best of the cinema of the last year, the Academy Awards gala has also been the scene of claims, and that is that several nominees wore a blue ribbon for a good cause.

As part of the initiative

“Wearing the blue ribbon on the red carpet sends a powerful visual message that everyone has the right to seek safety, whoever, wherever, whenever,” UNHCR said in a statement.

The Oscars 2023 is not the first awards ceremony in which this initiative has been carried out. Colin Farrell, Daryl McCormack, Jamie Lee Curtis, Paul Mescal, Bill Nighy and Angela Bassett, among others, also wore this symbol at the 2023 BAFTAs in February.

“My friend Cate Blanchett is asking people to remember, in the middle of the whole season of shining moments that, of course, there are terrible refugee crises all over the world, everywhere, at the same time, and we must do our part,” Jamie Lee Curtis told PA Media at the BAFTAs.

For her part, Blanchett, one of UNHCR’s Goodwill Ambassadors, revealed that she met with refugees in Lebanon, Jordan, Bangladesh and Great Britain. “What I love about film is the way it tells us compelling human themes to discover what unites us all,” Blanchett said in a statement.
