MADRID, 9 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The majority of voters in the midterm elections in the United States have at least some confidence that the elections in their state are conducted in a fair and accurate manner, without any type of electoral fraud, according to a CNN poll.
Specifically, almost eight out of ten voters express some confidence in the ‘midterm’, while two out of ten people who have gone to the polls did not have much or not at all confidence. Also, about half have been very confident in the legitimacy of the vote.
However, a higher percentage of voters have expressed concern about the state of democracy in the country: around seven out of ten people feel that democracy is somewhat or very threatened.
That percentage is lower among people who believe that democracy in the United States today is, at least, “somewhat safe”, as reflected in the exit poll carried out by the aforementioned chain.
All in all, just over six out of ten voters believe that the US president, Joe Biden, legitimately won the Presidency in 2020, which implies that more than 30 percent of the country does not consider the president to be the lawful tenant of the House. White.
This distrust in the legitimacy of the elections has marked the political context in the United States since former President Donald Trump refused to accept Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential election.
In fact, the Democratic Party has used this trump card in its favor in the campaign for the ‘midterms’, assuring that if the Republicans win these elections, the democracy of the country would be at stake, since a large part of the candidates for the Senate and Congress support the Trump conspiracy theory.
