MADRID, 19 Oct. (EUROPA PRES) –
The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has reproached the West for having gone from making fun of Iranian drones to considering them “dangerous” given the alleged use of these unmanned aerial systems in the context of the war in Ukraine.
Khamenei has thus explained that when photos of Iranian drones were published a few years ago, the West claimed that they were retouched to discredit their quality. However, that same military material turns out to be “now” “dangerous”, according to Bloomberg.
“In the last forty-three years, the collapse of the Islamic Republic has been talked about several times, but the stability and continuity of the movement of the revolution shows that this analysis is wrong and unrealistic,” he said, as reported by ISNA news agency.
Both the European Union and the United States have threatened to extend sanctions on Tehran if this type of military material is sent to Moscow for use in the war in Ukraine.
White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre explained at a press conference on Monday that Washington has evidence of the use of Iranian drones used by Russia against both military and civilian targets on Ukrainian territory.
