MADRID, 2 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Russian Foreign Ministry has assured that the use of nuclear weapons would be justified in the event of being the target of a hypothetical attack by foreign powers that would endanger its existence.

As detailed by the Russian diplomatic portfolio in a statement, the country’s nuclear protocol stipulates that the hypothetical use of atomic weapons would in any case be for defensive purposes and in response to attacks “by weapons of mass destruction or aggression with the use of weapons conventions” that endanger their very existence as a state.

“Russian doctrinal approaches in this regard are defined with the utmost precision” and do not give rise to “an expansive interpretation,” Moscow reaffirmed, stressing that its Army is “strictly and consistently guided by the principle that in a nuclear war can have no winners and should never be unleashed”.

Thus, Russia has stressed that, as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and as one of the planet’s nuclear powers, it has a “special responsibility” to strengthen international security and stability.

“We call on the rest of the five nuclear-armed countries to demonstrate in practice their willingness to work to solve this priority task and abandon dangerous attempts to infringe on each other’s vital interests, staying out of direct armed conflict and to encourage provocations with weapons of mass destruction,” the statement read.

This statement by Moscow comes in a context marked by Russia’s accusations about the possible use of a dirty bomb by Ukraine, something that the United States and a large part of the international community have rather interpreted as the prelude to an attack by false flag by Russian troops.
