MADRID, 7 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The former president of the United States Donald Trump has mocked this Sunday the Republican governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, using a derogatory nickname against what could be his rival in the primaries to lead the Republican Party for the 2024 presidential elections.

During a rally in the state of Pennsylvania, Trump has referred to DeSantis as “Ron DeSanturrĂ³n”, which could be a sign of growing tension between the two possible presidential candidates, according to the FOX network.

“We are winning big in the Republican Party for the nomination like no one has ever seen before,” Trump said before going over the list of other Republicans who could challenge him in 2024.

“There you are, Trump at 71 percent, Ron DeSanturrĂ³n at 10 percent,” the former president said as he read approval numbers from various Republican leaders.

Trump’s comment is the first direct snub against DeSantis since the former president’s political committee announced he would campaign for US Sen. Marco Rubio at a rally in Miami on Sunday, while not inviting DeSantis.

Still, many within the GOP see DeSantis as the top contender in the presidential race if Trump doesn’t show up.
