BARCELONA, 17 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The national executive of ERC has agreed this Friday afternoon that the party’s militancy validates, through an electronic consultation, the party’s position on a future investiture of the new president of the Generalitat after the “complex results” of the elections of 12 May.
In a statement, the Republicans explained that the executive has also agreed that the party’s general secretary, Marta Rovira, coordinates the negotiations for the constitution of the new Parliament and those of the investiture.
ERC has decided to “put the focus and concentrate the efforts of the entire formation” on the European election campaign that will begin next Thursday, with the aim of obtaining the best possible result on June 9, they have detailed.
These decisions come after the acting president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, announced that he is leaving the political front line, and that the president of the party, Oriol Junqueras, said that he will leave office temporarily after the Catalan elections to reflect on his future. facing the ERC National Congress on November 30.
In addition, Rovira also announced that she will not run for re-election as Secretary General in Congress, and the acting Vice-Minister of Strategy and Communication of the Generalitat, Sergi Sabrià, will leave institutional politics when the new Government is formed.
Within ERC, two currents have been generated: one that advocates for the renewal of leadership, headed by Rovira and Aragonès, and another in favor of Junqueras continuing to lead the republican formation.
